Volunteers of Legal Service (VOLS) Veterans Initiative

Who We Are

The Volunteers of Legal Service (VOLS) Veterans Initiative provides free legal services to senior NYC veterans (age 60+). VOLS partners with pro bono lawyers to prepare wills, powers of attorney, health care proxies and other advance directives for free. The Veterans Initiative also hosts a weekly walk-in legal clinic at the 23rd street VA hospital on Wednesdays from 2-4, and partners with social workers and community-based organizations to provide high quality holistic services. We also provide trainings for veterans and veteran service organization staff.

We use Telelanguage translators to communicate with non-English speaking clients. We also have limited in-house Spanish translation capacity.
