Uncontested Divorce Program (part of the New York State Access to Justice Program)
Who We Are
The New York State Court system has established the Volunteer Attorney Program as a free service designed to ensure that people have access to competent legal advice to guide them as they represent themselves. Under the supervision of court staff, volunteer attorneys spend full days or parts of days in a courthouse, and are available to provide legal advice and help unrepresented litigants with the preparation of uncontested divorce forms. Volunteer lawyers meet with unrepresented litigants in the Supreme Court’s Help Centers. Volunteer lawyers do not represent the litigants in court or file papers on their behalf.
