Who We Are
The Legal Aid Society of Rochester, NY (LASROC) provides direct legal representation (in court representation), advocacy, legal advice, and educational clinics to low and moderate-income individuals, families, and youth in crisis to ensure that their basic needs are met.
Services are available in a 5 county region surrounding Rochester, NY, including Monroe, Orleans, Genesee, Wayne and Livingston counties.
LASROC provides immigration legal services in 47 upstate NY counties.
A team of LASROC attorneys and advocates specialize in providing representation, advice, and advocacy to victims of domestic violence in obtaining and enforcing orders of protection, custody, divorce, eviction, foreclosure prevention, and immigration issues.
Representation is also provided to obtain, stabilize, or increase subsistence income through child support, maintenance (alimony), health insurance, credit repair/relief, avoiding the inappropriate collection of rent or judgments. Housing stability is addressed through first-time home-buying representation.
Educational advocacy is provided to youth to ensure they have access to education and necessary learning supports.
At this time we are offering remote services in all our normal practice areas: Family Law, Housing & Consumer Law, Immigration Law, and Education Law. Attorney for children are still in court representing new clients on essential matters. You can reach us by phone, email, or mail.

- Income Guidelines
- The Legal Society of Rochester uses the Federal Poverty Guideline (FPG), published and updated annually, to determine client financial eligibility.
Guidelines for LASROC programs vary from 0-300% of the poverty level. Programs have the discretion to accept any clients, depending on the circumstances.
There are fees for some services. Please contact us for information.
