Description
TeamChild
Who We Are
TeamChild works with youth, generally between the ages of 12-18, who come from low-income families and are involved in or at risk of involvement in the juvenile justice system. Some of the youth we serve are facing criminal charges. Some have already been convicted and are on diversion, probation, or parole. Other youth might interact with the court system because of dependency matters (foster care), or because of a Child In Need of Services (CHINS), At Risk Youth (ARY), or truancy petition. TeamChild staff attorneys provide free legal representation and advice to help youth assert their civil legal rights to community-based services that meet their basic needs. For example, we help children get back into school, secure safe and stable housing, obtain healthcare and mental health services, and access other public support.
