Who We Are

Safe Horizon’s Immigration Law Project provides high-quality, free and low-cost direct legal services to low-income survivors of crime, violence, abuse, trafficking and torture. We assist in applications for U/T visas, asylum, VAWA self-petitions, adjustment of status and naturalization and also defend against removal in immigration court proceedings.

How to Get Help

At this time we are offering remote services. Visit Safe Horizon’s website or call our intake line at (718) 943-8632 Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Safe Horizon checks the hotline daily. Have all the documents relating to your case on hand when you call.

Immigrant Victims of Crime

Immigrants who are victims of a crime may contact the Immigration Law Project directly.  You should leave a message on our machine if no one picks up and someone will return your call within 24 hours.

Victims and Survivors of Human Trafficking

Safe Horizon operates a program to assist victims and survivors of human trafficking. Through funding from the Federal Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Justice, we provide intensive case management, shelter, legal services, and mental health care to survivors of trafficking. From the point of rescue until the stabilization, our intensive case managers work with trafficked persons to explain their options and provide access to needed resources. An integral component of our work has been coordination with local and Federal law enforcement, to ensure that victims’ needs are addressed and that the criminal justice system holds traffickers accountable for the human rights violations that they perpetuate. Safe Horizon also operates the New York City Anti-Trafficking Network, a coalition of diverse service providers whose mission is to combat trafficking and ensure trafficked persons needs are recognized and addressed.

If you need assistance or suspect that someone you know is being held against his or her will, call our hotline at (800) 621-4673 or the Trafficking Information and Referral Hotline at (888) 373-7888.
