The Office of Consumer Protection (OCP) advocates (but does not provide individual or personal legal representation) on behalf of Montana consumers in matters of unfair or deceptive acts in the conduct of business. OCP investigates consumer complaints against a business and attempts to reach an equitable resolution. OCP enforces Montana consumer protection laws and regulates the Personal Solicitation Sales Act, Consumer Protection Act, Telemarketing Act and the New Vehicle Warranty Act. OCP ensures a healthy business environment by preventing groundless consumer complaints against Montana businesses and provides the opportunity to resolve legitmate consumer complaints in a manner resulting in stronger business relationships with consumers.

More Info: Many people call incorrectly believing they have three days from the date of purchase to return a car. They do not. Many people call about the lemon law believing it applies to all vehicles. There are many restrictions. The lemon law applies to cars that are less than two years old and have less than 18,000 miles.
