Who We Are
The Montgomery County Bar Volunteer Lawyers Program (MVLP) is a not-for-profit pro bono program supported by the Montgomery County Bar Foundation. Through the MVLP, area lawyers provide free legal assistance to low-income citizens of Montgomery County in certain civil matters.

When you call for assistance, please choose ext 2. This will put you in contact with the intake coordinator who will assist you. If she is unavailable, leave and message and she will contact you as soon as she is able. Trying to contact MVLP through other means may delay assistance and this delay may be critical to timely addressing your legal needs.
After speaking with the intake coordinator, callers will be informed if their case can be accepted. Unfortunately, even though the best efforts, not all MVLP accepted cases can be placed with an attorney.

- Each month, the MVLP holds a Free Advice and Counsel Clinic.
At the Free Advice and Counsel Clinic attorneys are on hand to answer your legal questions, advise you on how to best proceed if you are representing yourself and, if qualified under program guidelines, MVLP will refer your case to an attorney for extended representation if possible.
The MVLP Advice and Counsel Clinic is held the first and third Tuesday of each month from 3:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. at the Montgomery Community Action Agency, 1100 Adams Avenue, Montgomery, AL 36104 – with the exception of December. There will only be a clinic on the first Tuesday in December.
Please bring any forms or paperwork relevant to your legal issue with you to the help desk, such as divorce decrees, child support orders, eviction notices, leases, etc.
