Who We Are

The Legal Aid Society is a private, not-for-profit legal services organization, the oldest and largest in the nation, dedicated since 1876 to providing quality legal representation to low-income New Yorkers. It is dedicated to one simple but powerful belief: that no New Yorker should be denied access to justice because of poverty.

Services Offered include Housing (landlord-tenant and foreclosure related matters), Government Benefits, Family law and Consumer law matters.

For assistance to obtain an order of protection, in child custody, visitation or divorce matters you must be experiencing domestic violence.

What is an Emergency? Imminent eviction, active domestic violence, or a food/medical needs emergency.
