Who We Are
Legal Aid of North Carolina (LANC) is a statewide, nonprofit law that provides free legal services in civil matters to low-income people in order to ensure equal access to justice and to remove legal barriers to economic opportunity. The legal staff of Legal Aid of NC – Pittsboro Office provides legal assistance in civil matters to eligible, low-income clients who have problems with their basic needs and live in the six-county area surrounding Pittsboro, NC:
Alamance County
Chatham County
Lee County
Moore County
Orange County
Please note that Legal Aid of NC (LANC) does not provide legal assistance via E-mail. Rather, please telephone or come to the LANC office to request assistance.

- There are some limited exceptions. Please call the Legal Aid of NC office in Pittsboro to see if you are eligible for our services.
Clients may be asked to provide money for filing documents or for service fees.

- Please be prepared to bring all documents and correspondence relating to the case. For example, in a housing eviction case, a client would need to bring all court papers–(summons, etc), any correspondence from the landlord, and the lease, if available.

- We usually do intake for housing cases the 2nd Tuesday of every month, but feel free to call the office any time.
