Who We Are

Legal Aid of North Carolina (LANC) is a statewide, nonprofit law that provides free legal services in civil matters to low-income people in order to ensure equal access to justice and to remove legal barriers to economic opportunity.   The legal staff of Legal Aid of NC – Pembroke  Office provides legal assistance in civil matters to eligible, low-income clients who have problems with their basic needs and live in the three-county area surrounding Pembroke, NC:

Hoke County
Robeson County
Scotland County

Please note that Legal Aid of NC (LANC) does not provide legal assistance via E-mail. Rather, please telephone or come to the LANC office to request assistance.

We normally use interpreters–particularly for Spanish speaking clients for interviews and trials. Also we have the legal lines service.
Income Guidelines
There are limited exceptions. Please call the Legal Aid of NC office in Pembroke to see if you are eligible for our services.

Sometimes clients are responsible for filing fees, service of process, and other out-of-pocket expenses.

We provide brochures to the the Southeastern Family Violence Center in Lumberton, NC, and the Rape Crisis Center of Scotland County in Laurinburg, NC
