Catholic Charities’ Hispanic Apostolate Community Services has been serving the Hispanic community in New Orleans since 1972.Our mission is to help immigrants become independent, productive, and integral members of our society, respecting the dignity and potential of each human person. We are the leader in providing direct client services, community outreach and advocacy to the Hispanic community.
Immigration Services

Our immigration office is fully accredited by the U.S. Department of Justice to provide a broad range of immigration counseling and representation to immigrants and their families. We help clients understand the immigration law, learn their rights under the law, and to complete the immigration process successfully.

This office offers translation services of legal documents and birth certificates in general. The documents are certified in-house.
Hispanic Apostolate Community Services
ESL/Citizenship Classes (504) 722-5692
English as a Second Language (ESL) and Citizenship classes serve hundreds of adult learners annually and operate in 6 sites throughout Orleans, Jefferson, and St. Tammany parishes. Both morning and evening classes are offered in order to accommodate all work schedules, and 100% of instructors are volunteers. Our ESL and Citizenship classes provide a key component for integrating into the American society for both immigrants who have recently arrived and those who have been in this country for several years.

Housing Counseling (504) 310-6922
We provide information and guidance to families who are either considering the purchase of a home for the first time or who are in the process of foreclosure by explaining financing options, encouraging financial planning and good money management, and more.
Tax Preparation Services (504) 310-6866
We provide tax preparation services, assist with ITIN Number applications and, in partnership with the IRS, implement workshops and seminars regarding tax services, regulations, and issues/ tax concerns which impact and educate the community.

We serve as liaison between employers and individuals seeking employment. We assist with resume writing, job applications and job interview skills. Employers submit job openings to our office and our staff refers clients to them based on experience, education, and skills. All clients must present the necessary documentation indicating that they can work in the U.S.
Emergency Assistance (504) 310-6862
The emergency assistance office provides case management services to individuals and families in crisis or in emergency situations. We assist clients based on the resources available. Our office works in collaboration with public and private agencies and church parishes in order to meet the client’s needs.
Weekly Radio Show (504) 310-6863
We present a 30-minute radio program with the collaboration of a local Hispanic station WFNO La Raza 830am/La Mega 107.5fm. The guests are interviewed on various topics/segments to provide information to the community about services available, current issues, and the efforts of special service of public assistance and outreach efforts. This is a segment sponsored by the radio station.
Refugee Services
Refugee and Anti-Trafficking Services (504) 310-8784
We provide quality services to refugees, asylees, parolees, unaccompanied refugee minors, and victims of human trafficking. Our services are oriented to cover the basic needs of the newly-arrived clients and to promote self-sufficiency by making plans for resettlement.
