Who We Are

Gay Men’s Health Crisis’ Legal Services Department provides a continuum of practical and concrete HIV specific legal services that are critical to obtaining and maintaining access to food, housing, medical care and employment. All legal services are free and no legal fees apply.

Immigration services are available to anyone in New York City in need of them, regardless of medical status.

Circumstances and languages in which interpreters are provided
We have staff that can translate French, German, Russian, and Yoruba.

Other translation services are available with the assistance of our colleagues in other CBOs.

Income Guidelines
All services are free for people on public assistance. A nominal fee may apply for others. Fee waivers are available.

Household income should not exceed 435% of the Federal Poverty Level.

All clients must register with GMHC before they can receive legal services. You may register by bringing the appropriate medical documentation to the 5th floor intake desk.
