Who We Are
DRLC provides resources, referrals or legal representation to low-income individuals. DRLC provides free legal representation to people with disabilities who encounter discrimination. DRLC also represent students with disabilities to ensure they receive the special education and related services to which they are entitled under federal and state law.
DRLC also provides information and education about cancer-related legal issues to the public through its national telephone assistance line. A cancer diagnosis may carry with it a variety of legal issues, including insurance appeals, employment rights and leave time, access to health care and government benefits, and estate planning. These legal issues can cause people unnecessary worry, confusion, and stress, and can be overwhelming. When these legal issues are not addressed, people may find that although they have gotten through treatment, they have lost their homes, jobs, or insurance coverage.
DRLC does NOT provide legal representation on the following types of cases: Criminal, Employment, Domestic Violence, Personal Injury, Consumer Fraud, Bankruptcy, Evictons or Foreclosures, Applications or Appeals for Public Benefits, Wills/Estates/Trusts/ Conservatorships.
