Who We Are
DREDF is a law and policy center dedicated to advancing and protecting the civil rights of adults and children with disabilities. We address a broad range of disability-based discrimination, including employment, education (special education, regular K-12 and higher education), government facilities and government programs, health care, housing, public accommodations (private businesses, such as retailers, restaurants or professional offices that provide services to clients and customers), transportation, and voting. DREDF provides limited direct advocacy and representation services on disability civil rights issues, primarily in California, with priority given to serving clients eligible for legal aid services in California. DREDF is the Parent Training and Information Center (PTI) providing K-12 special education information, referral, and advocacy services to [parents of children with disabilities in Alameda, Contra Costa, and San Joaquin counties, and provides parents outside of those counties with referrals to their local PTI. DREDF also provides general disability civil rights information and referral services to persons with disabilities nationwide.
DREDF generally serves adults and children with disabilities, with priority to those eligible for legal aid services (including low income, seniors, and developmental disabilities prior to age 22).
Full Legal Representation is available in a limited number of impact cases.
