Saguache

Free Caregiver Legal Clinic (by appointment only)
Date/Time: 2nd Thursday of every month, from 4-6:30 pm, by appointment only
Serves: Alamosa, Conejos, Costilla, Saguache, Rio Grande & MineralLocation: Alamosa Colorado Legal Services, 603 Main St., Alamosa, CO 81101Contact: 719-589-4993 to apply and make an appointment. Free, one-on-one legal advice and document drafting for low-income clients who are the primary caregivers to minor children to whom they are not their parents. Attorneys will explain the legal choices caregivers have which will give them the legal authority they need to make decisions for the children in their care. Clients  can attend multiple times through their legal process and will receive help drafting court documents. Clients will not receive in court representation from this clinic. This clinic is by appointment only, so please apply and make an appointment ahead of time.

Free San Luis Valley Legal Clinics—get legal advice by videoconference
Date/Time: last Thursday of every month from 5:00-7:00pm. Early sign-in begins at 4:30, First come first serve.
Two Locations: Saguache Public Library (702 Pitkin Ave., Saguache) OR Blanca Public Library (17591 E. Hwy 160, Blanca, 2nd floor of the community center).

Description: Free, monthly, drop-in clinic that provides legal advice by videoconference from an attorney to low-income community members. Attorney can answer legal questions, help with court forms, and explain the law in the areas of family law, tenant/landlord law, protection orders, small claims, and consumer/collections.

San Miguel

Record Sealing and Expungement Clinic
When: Available at any time.
Cost: Free, but must qualify as low-income.
What: Through this free clinic an attorney will review your criminal record to see if you qualify to seal or expunge your record. If eligible, the attorney will also help you complete your court forms so you can file your case.
Area Served: This clinic provides help to people with criminal records located in one or more of the following counties: Clear Creek, Delta, Eagle, Grand, Gunnison, Hinsdale, Lake, Moffat, Montrose, Ouray, Routt, San Miguel and Summit.

When: 3rd Wednesday of each month from 5 to 8pm

Description: Free, monthly call-in legal clinic for low-income community members. Talk with an attorney and get your legal questions answers in the areas of family law, landlord/tenant law, protection orders, small claims, and consumer/collections.
Serves: Baca, Bent, Crowley, Cheyenne, Huerfano, Kiowa, Las Animas, Otero, Prowers, Kit Carson, Logan, Morgan, Phillips, Sedgwick, Washington, Yuma, Grand, Moffat, Rio Blanco and Routt Counties.

Summit

Legal Advice Clinic—Free Monthly Drop-in Clinic
When: 1st Thursday of each month
Time: 1pm to 3pm, MUST sign-in from 1pm to 2pm.
Where: Two locations, one in-person, one virtual:  1) In-person clinic: Frisco Colorado Workforce Center, 602 Galena, Frisco, OR, 2) Virtual clinic: Eagle County Justice Center, 885 Chambers Ave., Eagle
Serves: Residents of Eagle, Clear Creek, Summit, and Lake Counties

Description: These clinics provide one-on-one legal assistance by volunteer attorneys for low-income community members who don’t have an attorney. Attorneys can answer legal questions, help with court forms, and explain the law and procedure for civil legal issues (not criminal or traffic). Clinics cover family law, landlord/tenant law, protections orders, and consumer/collections.

Senior “Ask a Lawyer” Day—general legal clinics, 60 and older
When: 3rd Tuesday of every other month (Jan, March, May, July, Sept, Nov.)
Where: Summit County Community and Senior Center, 0083 Nancy’s Place, Frisco
Time: Ask questions during lunch, or talk privately with the attorney after lunch.

Serves: Seniors (60 and older) from Summit County
Description: General clinic for seniors (60+) that provides private legal session with an attorney to ask civil legal questions in areas such as divorce and custody, landlord/tenant, debts and consumer problems.
