City Bar Justice Center – Immigrant Justice Project

Who We Are

The Immigrant Justice Project (IJP) of the City Bar Justice Center (CBJC) provides legal services for low-income survivors of violent crimes, including intimate-partner violence, trafficking, sexual abuse, child abuse, hate crimes, and applicants for other forms of immigration relief.

Staff and trained volunteer attorneys assist foreign nationals with relief under the federal Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), U & T non-immigrant status (U or T visas), Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, asylum, the Convention Against Torture, Temporary Protected Status, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and other immigration relief. The project also provides assistance with civil, criminal, and other legal issues related to crimes described above.

In addition, immigration experts from CBJC regularly conduct trainings, outreach events, and legal clinics to keep communities appraised of updates to complex immigration laws. Long term representation is generally limited to asylum or U, T or VAWA relief for survivors of violent crimes. This organization will appear at New York City Immigration Courts located at 26 Federal Plaza and Varick St.

At this time we are offering remote services. To become a client or receive legal information, please call (212) 382-4710 during our regular business hours, Monday-Friday 9am-5pm, to schedule an appointment. Please have all immigration papers, police reports, orders of protection, court papers, etc. ready for intake.
