Elderlaw Project

Who We Are

The Elderlaw Project provides low-income seniors (aged 60+) across New York City with assistance in preparing basic wills, health care proxies, living wills and powers of attorney.  The project also provides referrals to a variety of legal services organizations. The Elderlaw Project does not see clients in their office and does not provide legal representation in court.

How to Get Help

At this time we are offering remote services. Leave a message to (212) 382-6658 with your contact information and brief description of your legal issue, and your call will be returned within three business days. All intakes are done by phone. Please gather any relevant documentation and have it easily accessible.

Eligibility Restrictions
For direct assistance, you must be a low-income senior (60 years or older). Financial eligibility will be checked as part of the intake process.

Description of Services
ELP provides eligible seniors (aged 60+) with no-cost legal information, advice and brief services with life planning issues. In addition, the project can provide appropriate referrals for other legal issues.

ELP also provides presentations for senior centers and community groups on life-planning choices and other topics of particular relevance to seniors.
