Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy provides legal assistance in civil matters to low-income persons in Charlotte, NC area and in west-central North Carolina. The mission is assuring a full measure of justice for those in need. - Interpreters are provided whenever the situation is necessary. We find interpreters both locally and through Language Line.
- Income Guidelines
- The criteria is different for immigrant or non-English speaking clients for some services, because Legal Aid of North Carolina provides parallel services to English-speaking clients in these areas.
There are rules for determining who is included in the household for which financial eligibility is determined and various exclusions from income and other considerations, but no general exceptions to income requirements.
We charge nominal sliding fees ($10 to $100) for most services, no fees for domestic violence cases, fees reduced or waived to ensure that no client is turned away due to inability to pay and that no client is subjected to an extraordinary hardship in order to pay the fee. Clients pay out-of-pocket costs of litigation when possible.
