Program Description
The Chesapeake Multicultural Resource Center (ChesMRC) provides information, referrals and/or direct services for: legal services, immigration services, health, services, enrollment/ renewal of Medicaid and/or health insurance plans, education, employment, counseling, translation services, recreation, English classes, family support, taxes, driver’s licenses.
The ChesMRC is now a Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) Accredited Organization, which signifies they can legally represent clients in cases with the Department of Homeland Security particularly with US Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) without the need of an attorney. They offer the following immigration legal services at little or no cost to qualifying candidates:
- DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) Applications
- DAPA (Deferred Action for Parents of Americans) Applications
- Family-Based Petitions
- Citizenship Applications
- Citizenship Preparation Classes
- They also work with local and regional attorneys to assist with any immigration issues that fall outside of our scope of work under the BIA accreditation.
