The UC Davis Family Protection and Legal Assistance Clinic provides free legal assistance to victims of intimate partner violence and sexual assault in the region. Although the Clinic provides legal advice and advocacy on a variety of legal issues impacted by the abuse, the Clinic currently only provides full legal representation to low-income petitioners in Domestic Violence Restraining Order cases (DVROs) and Civil Harassment Order (CHOs) filed against intimate partners, sexual abusers, or stalkers in Yolo County.
The Clinic is limited in the number of individuals that can be represented and does not accept new cases during the summer. In addition, Clinic students provide court forms assistance and information about the court process to petitioners representing themselves through a free weekly workshop on Friday mornings at the Yolo County Family Self-Help Center.
For more information about our services and to complete an intake, call (530) 752-6532.
Other community resources include:
- Empower Yolo (crisis line, shelter, counseling, legal advocacy)
- Yolo County Family Law Facilitator’s Office/ Self-Help Center (assistance to people without lawyers in family law cases)
- UC Davis Center for Advocacy Resources and Education (confidential advocacy resource for UC Davis students, staff, and faculty)
