Who We Are
The ACLU of Hawaii is a private, non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to defending civil rights and civil liberties, including the right to due process and equal protection of the law; freedom of expression; freedom of the press; religious freedom; the right of association; the right of privacy; the right to be free of unreasonable searches and seizures; and the right to be free of cruel and unusual punishment.The ACLU has many “know your rights” guides on its website, including information about your rights when dealing with the police and students’ rights in schools. If you are the victim of discrimination on the basis of race, national origin, ethnic background, gender, religion, disability, or sexual orientation, you may have legal remedy.
