Who We Are
Legal Aid Society of Mid-New York, Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation which gives free civil legal information, advice and representation to residents of Jefferson, Lewis, Oswego, Oneida, Herkimer, Cayuga, Onondaga, Madison, Cortland, Chenango, Otsego, Broome and Delaware Counties. This organization has offices located in Utica, New Paltz (Farmworkers Only), Binghamton, Oneonta, Oswego, Syracuse, Cooperstown, and Watertown.

At this time we are offering remote services. Please call our office at (607) 231-5900 during our regular business hours Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. If you have an appointment, please have all documents related to your case ready.

- We do not provide services for criminal defendants in felony, misdemeanor or violation cases.

- What is an Emergency? When legal action is needed to protect a client before a normal appointment can be scheduled.
Seen immediately if the legal problem is within priorities for Advice and Counsel and Brief Services only.
If eligible for full representation, the case is accepted and assigned. The client is seen by case handlers who will most likely be assigned due to type of matter, unless they are unavailable. Then the client is seen by the next best qualified and available case handler.
