Who We Are

The Long Island Advocacy Center, Inc., (LIAC), is a private, not-for profit agency, incorporated in 1981 as a 501©3.  We have a reputation for successfully protecting the legal rights of students since that time.  Our staff of highly trained advocates, paralegals and attorneys effectively obtains appropriate educational services and supports for students attending Public School.  This is accomplished through mediations, negotiations and representation at school meetings and hearings.

For families who fall outside of our funding mandates, there is a sliding scale fee for service.

Fees vary depending on the services your case receives and also your income level.

Your family’s income should be at or below the following percentage of the federal poverty level
